Phnom Penh Arrival & City Tour
Fly into Phnom Penh, the city that retains its traditional Khmer and colonial charm. Visit the Royal Palace compound built in 1866 by the predecessors of King Norodom. Continue to the Silver Pagoda, also known as the Emerald Buddha Temple, displaying beautiful Buddha statues decorated with diamond, emerald, gold and silver. Visit the Independence Monument, constructed in 1954 after Cambodia regained independence from the French colony. Continue to the National Museum, a distinctive red building with beautiful Khmer architecture and thousands of art objects made from sandstone, bronze, silver, copper, wood and other materials.
Phnom Penh – Old Capital Oudong Mountain
After breakfast, depart at 08:00 AM with your local guide and driver to visit Oudong, which was the royal residence and Cambodia's capital for more than 250 years. Explore the hills and visit temples and stupas containing the remains of several Khmer kings. The summit offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. On the way back to Phnom Penh, visit the Silversmiths Village where craftsmen make beautiful Khmer-style silver crafts. Continue to the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum, also known as S21, a former school that became a Khmer Rouge prison and torture centre.
Phnom Penh – Siem Reap by Overland & Tonle Sap
After breakfast, depart for Siem Reap from Phnom Penh. The journey is approximately 315 km and takes around 6 hours via National Road 6A. En route, make stops including Skun before continuing to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and check in. Later, continue to Tonle Sap Lake and visit a remarkable village built entirely on stilts. Explore the houses, school and shops before boarding your private boat and cruising through the unique floating village waterways.
Angkor Thom & Angkor Wat
After breakfast, visit the West Gate of Angkor Thom and explore the ancient capital dating from the 12th century. See the South Gate and Bayon Temple with its famous smiling faces. Continue to Baphuon Temple, a pyramidal representation of mythical Mount Meru. Visit Phimeanakas Temple, the Elephant Terrace and Preah Palilay. Continue to Ta Prohm, famous from the movie Tomb Raider, where nature has reclaimed the ancient temple. Finally visit the magnificent Angkor Wat, a World Heritage Site since 1992, famous for its beauty, splendour and the longest continuous bas-relief in the world depicting stories from Hindu mythology.
Siem Reap – Phnom Kulen National Park & Departure
Embark on an amazing journey to the unexplored and beautiful lush mountain region of the north. Phnom Kulen is considered the holiest mountain in Cambodia and is an active pilgrimage place and picnic destination for Khmer families. Drive through local villages, farmlands, rice fields and temples before reaching a trail through dense jungle leading to the mountain top. Visit Preah Ang Thom, a 16th-century Buddhist monastery notable for the giant reclining Buddha carved into the top of a 20m boulder. Continue downstream to the magnificent tiered waterfalls and the sacred 1000 Lingas carved into the sandstone riverbed. After the excursion, transfer to Siem Reap Airport for departure to the next destination.
